Alasdair MacLeod

PhD Student
During the final year of my Chemistry degree, at the University of Glasgow, I researched thermoelectric materials with a focus on copper chalcogenides. By using microwaves to form my products, I was also testing the efficiency of this synthesis method.
After a summer internship in the Cronin Group the previous year, I was enticed into the group with talk of abiogenesis and working in the field of space. My PhD saw me join the Artificial Life team where I’ll be helping to map the molecular complexity across a variety of materials both natural to Earth and outwith our atmosphere.
Besides chemistry, I enjoy lots of sports (basketball, tennis, badminton), going bikepacking (cycling with my camping gear) and cooking eating.
