Dr. Jia Jia Chen

I obtained my Bachelor of Science in Chemistry in Xiamen University (China) in 2009 and then went on to PhD study at State Key Laboratory of Physical Chemistry of Solid Surfaces, Xiamen University, supervised by Professor Quan-feng Dong, which was completed in 2014. PhD research included cathode materials (sulfur/carbon composites, LiFePO4 and LiNi1/3Co1/3Mn1/3O2) and nano-size transition metal oxides anode materials for rechargeable batteries, in-Operando electrochemical Raman spectroscopy investigation and DFT calculations for the mechanism study of Li-S batteries. During my PhD study, I also spent one year as a visiting student with the Cronin Group, working on the 'micreagents' lablet robotics project (super-capacitor part) and proton conductivity of POMs. After finishing my PhD, I got a post doctoral research assistant position in Prof. Quan-feng Dong’s group before coming to the Cronin Group. Present research topics focus mainly on the electro-crystallization of functional POM materials for electronic devices and electrochemical applications, as well as new types of flow battery systems.
