Chemistry Graduate School

The Chemistry Graduate School at the University of Glasgow is part of the WestCHEM Research School. The WestCHEM Graduate School has around 150 Chemistry PhD students. Around half of these are based at the University of Glasgow, engaged in a wide range of Chemistry research.


Among the areas in which projects will be available are: Organic Synthesis, Natural Products Chemistry, Chemical Biology, Medicinal Chemistry, Physical Organic Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry, Protein Chemistry, Environmental Chemistry, Computational Chemistry, Catalysis, Surface Chemistry, Nanochemistry, Materials Chemistry, Molecular Magnetism, Inorganic Synthesis, Metal Cluster Chemistry, Structural Chemistry, Magnetic Resonance, Optical Spectroscopy

The Chemistry Graduate School at the University of Glasgow expects to have a range of PhD studentships available for projects beginning in October 2011.

Applications for Research PhDs
Applications for admission to the WestCHEM Graduate School in the Department of Chemistry should be made via the Physical Sciences Graduate School. The University Postgraduate Prospectus also provides more information. Informal enquiries can be made to the prospective supervisor or to the Head of the Chemistry Graduate School, Dr Graeme Cooke. Applicants should have or expect to get at least a second class honours degree or equivalent.

A post-graduate handbook and timetable is available. There are taught courses at post-graduate level for research students at both.
