Ethos
History: The northern protein structure workshop has been running for 18 years now. This is our fifth year in Hadrian's wall county and the city of Carlisle (after leaving our beloved Galashiels in 2006). As a regional meeting, it is sited to provide a location convenient for those working in laboratories in the North of Britain.
Aim: Simply to increase communication between research laboratories through the informal exchange of results and techniques. We hope that by providing a relaxed and friendly atmosphere we can encourage the younger members of our labs to present their results and contribute to the discussions. Therefore, we ask all students to submit a title for a talk, remembering that work in progress is very much welcome and often stimulates the best discussions.
Subject of talks: Participants presentations are welcomed on ANY work related to protein structure (including expression and purification as well as crystallisation and structural determination). They DO NOT have to be directly related to the year's theme. 15 minutes is allocated per talk with 5 minutes discussion time to follow.
