Dr Deliang Long

Biography

Born in Hunan, China, I obtained my BSc (1983) and MSc (1986) degrees in Chemistry from Wuhan University and completed my PhD (1996) on cluster materials and optical nonlinearity under the supervision of Professor Xin-Quan Xin at Nanjing University. I was appointed as a Teaching Assitant (1986-1988) and Lecturer (1989-1993) in Hubei University and a Research Assistant Professor in Fujian Institute of Research on the Structure of Matter, Chinese Academy of Sciences (1996-1998), where I was promoted to Associate Professor (Oct. 1998). I was awarded the Royal Society KC Wong Fellowship and moved to the University of Nottingham in 1999 working with Professor Martin Schröder on the project of coordination polymers and chemical topology. In 2002 I joined Professor Lee Cronin's group at the University of Birmingham and soon moved to University of Glasgow where I was promoted to Senior Research Fellow (Grade 9) in 2008. I am member of RSC, ACS and IUCr. My current research interests are in polyoxometalates, inorganic synthesis, coordination chemistry, cluster based materials and chemical crystallogaphy.
