Amanda Dunsmore
Postgraduate Student
I was born and raised in Glasgow and in 2025 graduated from the University of Glasgow with a BSc in Chemistry with honours of the first class. In my final year I undertook a project pertaining to the preconcentration and removal of aromatic explosives from ground water using photosensitive gels, with joint supervision from the Draper and Loch groups. In addition, between my third and final year, I partook in an internship at William Grant & Sons’ Girvan distillery site where I enjoyed being a part of the liquid quality team, based in their analytical lab.
I started in the Cronin group as a summer intern in 2025, learning and optimising inert chemistry techniques in automation on the Chemputer platform. I’m now working towards my PhD within the group.
I like unusual books and films, crafts, and nature trails and dislike wasps and celery.
