Joaquin Perez-Grande
Visiting Student
Although Spanish, I am in the final year of my BSc in Molecular Biology at The University of Manchester, where I am also the President of the Astrobiology Society.
My research interests centre around the origins of life, evolution, and complexity; how we came to exist and under which conditions, and how that knowledge can be extrapolated to detect and characterise life elsewhere in the universe. I joined the Cronin Group in June 2021 to further develop the Assembly Theory, studying the molecular complexity of life on Earth (and beyond), and I aim to continue investigating about the origins and complexity of life as a PhD student.
Outside of research, I enjoy hiking, writing, and cooking. I am also an animal lover, and I work as a marketing and IT director for the Cambados Animal Shelter.
