Ramil Babazade
Postgraduate Student
Born and raised in Azerbaijan, I moved to Korea in 2018 to pursue my Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry & Computer Science at Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST). During my time there, at the Machine Intelligence and Computational Chemistry (MICC) lab in Seoul, I found out how exciting it is to combine AI with chemistry. My work focused on generating a dataset of organic reaction mechanisms to build the groundwork for machine learning-based mechanism predictions.
In January 2025, I joined the Cronin group to pursue my PhD. As a member of the Complexity & Computation team, I’m currently working on reactivity-first navigation of the chemical space.
Outside the lab, I enjoy cooking with an ambitious goal of making edible food, reading, swimming and playing violin.
