Yashika Kumar
Postgraduate Student
Born and raised in New Delhi, India, Yashika completed her B.Sc. (Hons) in Chemistry at the University of Delhi in 2024 with First Class distinction. She went on to pursue M.Sc. in Chemistry with Medicinal Chemistry at the University of Glasgow, graduating in 2025. For her Master’s research, she worked with Prof. Andrew Jamieson on the design and synthesis of α-conotoxins derived from cone snails, focusing on peptide synthesis and structure-activity relationships in bioactive marine natural products. She joined Prof. Lee Cronin’s group as a summer intern, where she developed a strong interest in the automation of chemistry. She is currently pursuing a Master’s by Research under his supervision.
Outside the lab, she enjoys reading, learning different languages, exploring different forms of art and going on long hikes and nature trails.
