The workshop aims to bring together independent academics working in all areas of electrochemistry in the UK, but with a particular focus on those whose work touches on fundamental electrochemical research. The workshop is open to independent academics across the career stages, from those in their first academic appointments through to established professors.
A draft timetable for the workshop is available under the "Programme" tab above.
The workshop is being organised under the auspices of EPSRC, to discuss
the state and future direction of fundamental electrochemical research in the UK. The workshop will take place over
two days (7th and 8th July 2022) at Gregynog Hall,
Tregynon, Powys, Wales, SY16 3PW, and will be free to attend for the selected delegates. Further information on
the venue and programme can be found under the tabs above.
Organisers
The workshop is being coordinated by Prof. Robert Dryfe (University of Manchester), Prof. Upul Wijayantha (Loughborough University), Prof. Katherine Holt (University College London) and Dr. Mark Symes (University of Glasgow). More information on the organisers can be found under the "Organisers" tab above.
Aims of the Workshop
The workshop aims to bring together independent academics working in all areas of electrochemistry in the UK to discuss the state and future direction of fundamental electrochemical research in the UK. There will be a particular focus on areas where fundamental electrochemistry are important and/or where fundamental electrochemistry could play a greater role. The workshop is open to independent academics across the career stages, from those in their first academic appointments through to established professors. PhD students and postdoctoral researchers are not eligible.
Workshop Outline
The workshop will involve plenary, round-table and break-out sessions designed to establish the current status of fundamental electrochemical research in the UK and the direction of travel. As well as mapping areas of activity, the workshop also aims to produce a report identifying how fundamental electrochemical research in the UK could be strengthened. Delegates should commit to attending both days and should inform us immediately if they are no longer able to attend so that others may take up this opportunity.
Applications
Prospective delegates should register through this link by the deadline of 4th April 2022. We hope to announce the successful candidates by 11th April. Delegates will be selected on the basis of their completed application forms. The application form should make clear the prospective delegate's reasons for wishing to attend the workshop, and how they will contribute to the workshops's aims. We will maximise the diversity of views at the meeting and we encourage applications and from under-represented groups in electrochemistry.
Costs
The workshop will be free for the selected delegates. UK travel expenses will be covered (i.e. from home to Gregynog) for all delegates, following standard EPSRC rules.
Eligibility
The workshop is open to independent academics across the career stages, from those in their first academic appointments through to established professors. PhD students and postdoctoral researchers are not eligible.
