NEWS

July 2023: The work of Henry Sansom features in a study of the multiphoton excitation of antisense oligonucleotides labelled with fluorescent base analogues. This collaboration was led by the lab of Prof. Marcus Wilhelmsson and is published in Phys. Chem. Chem. Phys.

January 2023: David and Henry's paper describing the method of pulse-shaped multiphoton excitation is out in Methods and Applications in Fluorescence.

August 2022: The work of undergraduate project student Simona Bianco, Tianyu Hu and collaborator Oli Henrich (Physics, Univ. Strathclyde) on DNA triplet repeats is published in Biophysical Reports.

May 2022: Congratulations to Gill Cadden for winning a poster prize at the 86th Harden Conference: Machine on Genes in Alicante.

November 2021: Gill Cadden successfully defended her PhD thesis

July 2021: Tianyu Hu successfully defended her PhD thesis

January 2021: Tianyu and Mike's work on slipped-strand DNA is published in Nature Communications.

December 2020: A collaboration with the Purse and Lee labs to measure a new fluorescent nucleobase is out now in Chemical Science.

September 2020: A new paper is out as a Cover Feature in ChemPhotoChem.

September 2020: David Nobis successfully defended his PhD thesis

March 2020: Raul Berrocal-Martin successfully defended his PhD thesis

January 2020: Three new papers, from three separate collaborations, are out this month.

August 2019: David and Rachel's paper on single-molecule detection of fluorescent nucleobases has just been published in J. Phys. Chem. Lett.

October 2018: Our paper "Stacking-induced fluorescence increase reveals allosteric interactions through DNA" has just been published in Nucleic Acids Research.

August 2018: Raul was awarded a Dalton Transactions prize for Outstanding Poster Presentation at the European Biological Inorganic Chemistry Conference in Birmingham, 26-30 August.

July 2018: Congratulations to Gill Cadden for winning a poster prize at the RSC's 14th Nucleic Acids Forum, which took place in London on 6th July.

July 2018: Congratulations to Rachel Fisher for the award of a PhD ("Photophysical characterisation of novel fluorescent base analogues").

June 2018: The 4th International Meeting on Fluorescent Biomolecules and their Building Blocks (FB3) was held in Glasgow.
