Organic Chemistry PhD Studentships – New Synthetic Methods and Natural Product Synthesis
Starting in October 2017
Applications are invited for PhD research studentships concerning the development of new synthetic reactions and their application to the synthesis of complex bioactive natural products. Methodological projects will involve the development of new stereoselective metal-catalysed reactions and rearrangement processes for the synthesis of heterocycles and carbocycles, and the development of asymmetric C–C bond-forming and oxidation reactions. Target synthesis projects will involve the construction of complex biologically active marine and terrestrial natural products.
Applications should be sent directly to Professor J Stephen Clark, Department of Chemistry, Joseph Black Building, University of Glasgow, University Avenue, Glasgow G12 8QQ, United Kingdom. Applicants should include a full CV and the names of at least two academic referees. Informal enquiries can be made directly to Professor Clark (Stephen.Clark@glasgow.ac.uk).
