The Forgan Group is based in the School of Chemistry at the University of Glasgow. Our research focusses on the development and application of metal-organic frameworks, MOFs, which are porous inorganic-organic hybrid constructs. For more information on our projects involving new self-assembly protocols, biomimetic catalysis and drug delivery, click the Research tab.
01/10/2024: It's a bittersweet time of year, with a number of changes in personnel as we start the new academic year. Click here for more information and more news stories.
We currently have no funded PhD positions available for 2024. Self-funded students or those who wish to apply for external scholarships are encouraged to apply all year round in any area of materials or supramolecular chemistry. Interested potential students should contact Prof Forgan directly by email, enclosing a cover letter, a copy of your CV, and information of the funding scheme you wish to apply for. Summer placements for 2024 are also being considered - email for more details.
We are currently recruiting for a 2 year postdoctoral researcher to study MOFs for delivery of senolytics - deadline for applications is 24th October 2024. We will also soon be advertising a three year postdoctoral position focussing on MOF synthesis, crystallisation, and electron diffraction analysis - watch this space. We are always keen to hear from prospective PDRAs intending to apply for their own funding. If you have or wish to apply for external funding to work with Prof Forgan, please email him directly. If you are interested in working with the Forgan Group at any stage of your research career, click on the Join Us tab for more information.
Prof Forgan currently teaches the Chemistry 1 Transition Metals lecture course - click here for additional materials - and the final year i4 Applied Coordination Chemistry Course. If you have any questions, please contact Prof Forgan by email.
Prof Forgan is the Head of the Functional Molecules and Assemblies Research Grouping and the School of Chemistry Impact Champion.
